No More Curls!

As the title suggests...Mary Grayson got her FIRST haircut yesterday! After much deliberation I decided it was time for the uneven ends and fly-aways to go!  After a long morning nap we went to Snip-Its at The Woodlands Mall for a much needed new "do"!  Trying to get out of the house with a baby on my hip, my purse, MG's diaper bag, the video camera, snacks and a bottle for the drive, and my cell phone...I forgot my real camera!  So my handy Iphone had to capture the moment.  Here is a before shot...
Enjoying an animal cracker. Doing so good!
And then came the melt down...

I had never heard the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" sung that way...but whatever...she stopped crying!  She wasn't too sure about a comb being used on her hair because I always use a baby brush and she really didn't care for the squirt bottle approach to getting her hair wet...we prefer using a cup in the bathtub!  Overall I think she did great for her first time and I can only hope each haircut will get better!   As for now, we love our little bob! She even got a prize from the barber...a slinky!! She loved it!  Then we went to the food court for a sugar cookie! Here are a few after shots...

Goodbye Summer...Hello Fall!

Today was our family's last official day of summer vacation!  Mary Grayson will begin attending MDO again tomorrow!  Yay!  We were so pleased with our church's program this summer.  MG really seemed to enjoy going and we are looking forward to starting our daily routine again in the morning!  Maybe we will get on some sort of weekly schedule at some point this fall!
Chillin' in my new shades!

Ready for a wagon ride!
The weather here in Houston has drastically changed since I last blogged.  It finally feels like fall...my favorite time of year! We even sat outside this morning to have our coffee and for MG to have her morning bottle! It was so nice to start the morning off together...all three of us!!  Here are a few pics from our summer...

On a side note: Thanks to everyone who prayed for me and my decision to cut back at the hospital to try my hand at teaching tennis!  Marvin and I pray diligently for the Lord to guide each and every decision we make, and what looked like a door for opportunity was suddenly closed, in this case.  However, there are many more doors to be opened...we just have to discover them!  As for now, I am working at two hospitals part-time and enjoying every other minute with my incredible husband and sweet baby girl!  I know life is full of ups and downs and I know my God would never put me in a situation He felt I couldn't handle! This is just another season of our life and I am thoroughly looking forward to exploring what God has in store for us!!Happy school year everyone!!!

9 MONTHS!!!

Mary Grayson turned 9 months old today. It's so hard to believe in just 3 short months our "baby" girl will be one!! She is such a happy baby (as you can see from the pictures!)  Her smile is so contagious!  I still think she gives her Daddy her best smiles! I'll work on trying to catch one on camera soon!  Yesterday we went to see the pediatrician for MG's 9 month check up and here are her stats!

-20 pounds 13 ounces (83.20%)
-27.5 inches long (50.74%) She is a little shorty!!!
-eating table foods
-CRAWLING EVERYWHERE!!
-Pulling up on EVERYTHING!! (broke a candlestick pulling up on the entertainment center)
-waving and saying "bye-bye"
-STILL NO TEETH!!!!
-loves anything that makes noise and rattles
-loves to sleep in her bed
-enjoys her classes at The Little Gym

It is getting more and more difficult to get MG to sit still during our monthly pictures!! She is such a busy body and we love that about her!!! She has such personality.  We love her dearly and we can't wait for what this next month brings!

The Little Gym

Last week, on the way to visit a friend, I passed The Little Gym.  I got online to check it out once I got home and signed MG up for an introductory class.  We went that following Thursday and she LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!! It was so nice to see her interacting with children her age.  Now that she's crawling everywhere it was so fun to watch her explore the gym in her own little way.  She has been in the "Bugs" class (4-10month olds), but starting this afternoon at 3pm she will be in the "Birds" (10-18month olds) class.  Mrs. Patti told us that MG was very advanced for her age and very social and would do well moving up. Here are a few pictures from our last "Bug" class!! And I'll be sure to let you know how our little social butterfly does in the "Birds" class today!!

Carson Turns FOUR!

Our sweet little nephew turned FOUR on August 1st!  This past weekend he had his party at Jumpapalooza! Mary Grayson was much more alert for Carson's party than she was at Brandon's back in January!  She was mesmerized by all the kiddos jumping around on the big blow up toys around her!  She tried her first piece of birthday cake...and LOVED it!! (Who wouldn't....lots of sugar and chocolate???) Here are a few pics from the party!

Bittersweet Weekend

Last weekend was bittersweet for me.  We were planning on a relaxing weekend in Birmingham for one of my dear friends wedding when we got the news that my mom's uncle, my KK, had passed away.  I have such sweet memories of summers at KK and Aunt Sadie's house, swimming in their pool, feeding their dogs and hanging out in their "cool motorcycle-themed" garage.  KK was always such a handy-man, and managed to surprise me one year with a pink life size (for a 5 year old) playhouse; fully equipped with electricity, a front porch, purple shutters and a deck!  That little playhouse has been such a blessing to other little girls and I'm hoping one day to get it moved to Texas so MG can play in it too! The last time I saw KK was right after I found out I was pregnant with Mary Grayson.  He was so excited and I am so sad he never got to meet her.  But one day they will! His suffering is over and know he is rejoicing with our Father in Heaven!   Funerals are always hard, no matter how close you were to the person who passed away.  It was fun to catch up with family members I hadn't seen in a while and sad at the same time saying good-bye (for now) to a loved one.
The funeral services delayed our trip a day and we headed to Birmingham after the services on Friday.  We enjoyed sight-seeing in B'ham on Saturday before the wedding festivities.  Oh! How I miss Birmingham!  The hills are just beautiful and eventhough it was just slightly LESS hot there than in Texas it was nice to get away from 110% humidity for a day or so.  MG was a real trooper for the 6 hour drive and really enjoyed all the music and people watching at the wedding!

On the way home we stopped in Denham Springs to meet yet another new little boy and MG's potential friends!  Colby Michael Sommers was born to one of Marvin's best friends and we could'nt wait to meet him.  MG did much better with Colby than she did meeting Ty just a few weeks ago.  She didn't grab for his passie, but just looked at him sweetly!  We are so excited for Steve and Ann Rob and their new addition.  We know just how fast those little ones grow and we are looking foward to many memories of our children growing up together!
